How to Add an AI Chatbot to Your GoDaddy Website

A straightforward guide to adding an AI chatbot to your GoDaddy website or online store. Works with GoDaddy Website Builder and GoDaddy WordPress — no tech expertise required.

Your GoDaddy site works. Let's make it talk.

If you're reading this, you probably built your website on GoDaddy because you wanted something that just works. No fuss. Pick a template, add your info, hit publish. Done.

That approach works great — until a customer visits your site after hours, has a quick question, and the only option is an email form that says "We'll respond within 1-2 business days."

An AI chatbot trained on your business info answers those questions instantly. Think of it as hiring a part-time receptionist who never sleeps, never calls in sick, and actually reads your FAQ.

Which GoDaddy product are you using?

GoDaddy has a few different website tools, and the setup differs slightly:

Not sure which one you have? If you edit your site using a drag-and-drop visual editor inside GoDaddy's dashboard, it's the Website Builder. If you see a WordPress admin panel (wp-admin), it's WordPress.

First: set up the chatbot (same for both options)

  1. Go to factfu.com/signup and create a free account
  2. Click Create Bot and name it (your business name works great)
  3. Add your content:
    • Website URL — enter your GoDaddy site URL. The bot will read through your pages.
    • Text/FAQ — paste in your hours, return policy, common questions — the stuff you answer over and over
    • Documents — got a PDF menu, price list, or service brochure? Upload it.

Pro tip for local businesses: Include your address, hours, phone number, and parking info as text content. These are the #1 questions people ask about local businesses.

  1. Go to Settings → Widget and copy the embed code:
<script
  src="https://factfu.com/v0/widget.loader.js"
  data-widget-key="pk_your_key_here"
  defer>
</script>

Option A: GoDaddy Website Builder

GoDaddy's Website Builder supports adding custom code through the HTML section:

  1. Open your website in the GoDaddy Website Builder editor
  2. From the left sidebar, click Add Section
  3. Search for HTML and add an HTML section to your page
  4. Click Edit HTML on the new section
  5. Delete any placeholder code and paste the Factfu embed code
  6. Click Done
  7. The HTML section will look minimal or empty in the editor — that's normal (the widget renders as a floating overlay, not inline content)
  8. Click Publish

The chat bubble should now appear on whichever page you added the HTML section to.

Want it on every page?

You'll need to add the HTML section to each page individually. GoDaddy's Website Builder doesn't have a single "inject code everywhere" option (unlike the header/footer approach in other platforms). If you have many pages, focus on the ones that get the most traffic — usually your home page, services page, and contact page.

Option B: GoDaddy WordPress

If you're using GoDaddy's WordPress hosting, you have two choices:

WordPress plugin (easiest)

  1. In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New
  2. Search for "Factfu"
  3. Click Install Now, then Activate
  4. Go to Settings → Factfu Chatbot
  5. Paste your widget key (the pk_ code from the Factfu dashboard)
  6. Click Save Changes

That's it — no code pasting needed.

Manual code insertion

  1. In WordPress admin, go to Appearance → Theme Editor (or use a plugin like "Insert Headers and Footers")
  2. Find the footer.php file
  3. Paste the embed code just before </body>
  4. Save

Or install a free plugin like WPCode that adds a "Custom Code Snippets" section to your WordPress admin, letting you paste the code without editing theme files.

Step 3: Test it

Visit your live site (not the editor). You should see the chat bubble in the bottom-right corner. Click it and ask a question about your business.

The first time you see it pull the correct answer from your content? That's a good feeling. Even better when you realize it'll do this at 3 AM on a Saturday while you're asleep.

Making it yours

The chatbot should sound like your business, not like a robot. In the Factfu dashboard:

  1. Bots → Customize — set colors that match your GoDaddy template
  2. Welcome message — "Hi! How can I help you today?" or something that fits your brand
  3. Quick replies — set buttons for your most common questions: "Hours & Location", "Pricing", "Book an Appointment"
  4. Bot instructions — tell the bot your preferred tone. Casual? Professional? Friendly but not too friendly? It follows your lead.

Troubleshooting

Bot gives wrong or generic answers:

Pricing

Free Starter ($19/mo) Pro ($49/mo)

The free plan covers most small business sites. You'll probably answer the "What are your hours?" question enough times in one month that 200 messages sounds about right.

Wrapping up

You chose GoDaddy because it makes websites easy. Adding a chatbot should be just as easy — and it is.

A few minutes of setup, and your GoDaddy site stops being a one-way brochure and starts being a helpful conversation. Customers get answers when they need them. You get fewer "quick question" emails. Everyone wins.
